Four Auburn football players were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana on Saturday. The athletes are set to face further internal discipline following the misconduct.

According to  ESPN, Carlton Davis III, Byron Cowart, Jeremiah Dinson and Ryan Davis were all charged to second-degree misdemeanor marijuana-possession charges after Auburn police arrested them on Saturday night.

The four are all sophomores and popular tigers players. Carlton Davis from Miami is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback, who earned SEC All-Freshman honors for having a total of 56 tackles and three interceptions last year.

The other player, Cowart of Seffner, Florida, was a defensive end who played in every game and was the No. 1 player nationwide in the 2015 recruiting class. He was recorded with six tackles while playing as defensive lineman. Cornerback Dinson from Miami, on the other hand, has played in nine games before suffering a season-ending knee injury; while Ryan Davis from St. Petersburg, Florida, has played eight games as a freshman. The four are expected to face internal discipline from their Auburn tigers head coach, Fansided reported.

Gus Malzahn, the Tigers head coach, issued the statement regarding the misconduct of his players, saying "I'm aware of the situation and we will handle the matter appropriately." However, he did not provide any details on the punishment that the players that are about to receive.

The arrest happened at the 100 block of E. Samford Avenue in Auburn, Montgomery Advertiser reported. The public record shows that the four were charged of a Class A misdemeanor in the state of Alabama. The charge carries a sentenced to not more than one year in prison and a $6,000 fine.

The Lee County Detention Center's records shows the four football players were bailed out with the bond set at $500. They are scheduled to appear in court in July 21^st this year.
