Sharon Aydelott, a Florida teacher, was "found brutally murdered with a knife plunged into her eye on Christmas Eve" by her 17-year-old son William Brandon Aydelott who confessed to the crime to police, The Huffington Post reported.

The 17-year-old did not live with his mother since September and murdered her after a heated argument, as reported by The Northwest Florida Daily News.

The State Attorney told The Pensacola News Journal that the 17-year-old will be tried as an adult, and will face second-degree murder charges for "allegedly beating his [mother] with a baseball bat and stabbing her repeatedly."

The prosecution will try to get a first-degree premeditated murder indictment, The News Journal also reported.

The crime was discovered by a visitor "who arrived to see the teacher at 8:30 on Christmas Eve, but found the front door ajar and smeared with blood," The New York Post also reported. 

"It was very brutal, very heinous," said Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy.

"Brutal is the only way to describe it."

"Santa Rosa Sheriff's deputies found the younger Aydelott three hours later when they located his vehicle at a nearby home, station WALA reported. Neighbors told the station that Sharon was a single mom who is survived also by a daughter," as reported by The New York Post.
