A Thai court on Thursday sentenced Lee Aldhouse, a semi professional kickboxer, to 25 years in jail for the murder of ex-Marine Dashawn Longfellow on a resort island in 2010, The Associated Press reported.

The Phuket provincial court found Aldhouse guilty after the kick-boxer who fought under the nickname "pit bull" guilty, had stabbed Longfellow to death following a brawl at a Phuket bar.

Aldhouse's guilty plea reduced his sentencing, which had previously been life imprisonment, The AP also reported.

Aldhouse had been living off-and-on in Phuket at the time Longfellow was vacationing in Thailand. After Britain's High Court rejected his appeal, he was extradited to Thailand in 2012.

"The Thai authorities had fought for his extradition for two years and this is the first time in 101 years that the U.K. approved a request," Police Col. Sinard Ajhanwong, commander of Thai Interpol Region 3 said in 2012.

Aldhouse was initially arrested at London's Heathrow Airport in 2010 after fleeing Thailand. The victim's body was found with several stab wounds in his chest at the time.

Longfellow was described as an war hero from Oklahoma at the time of his death.
