Closing arguments in the murder trial of Ryan Lane concluded Monday with prosecutor Tom Buglas saying "there should be no doubt" that the three suspects planned to and killed the Calgary father.

Accused Sheena Cuthill, her husband Tim Rempel, and his brother Will Rempel are all charged with first- degree murder and have pleaded not guilty, reported the Global News. The Crown asserts that Lane was killed over custody of a daughter he shared with Cuthill as it introduced a conversation between the Rempel brothers intercepted by police in June of 2012. 

It said Will and Tim knew about evidence that police hadn't even yet found, as this wiretap proves.

Will: "Um, they found the kitchen, eh?"
Tim: "What's that?"

Will: "They found the kitchen... there was nothing found. So anything they come up with is f***n' hearsay... I do believe there was a couple of pieces there but as hot as it was there was no DNA, nothing to be found."

According to the Calgary Herald the Crown's theory is Cuthill urged the two brothers to lure Lane from his father's northwest Calgary home for the purpose of killing him. But Will Rempel's lawyer, Jim Lutz, argued the Crown has failed to answer crucial questions in the death of Lane. He argued that without those answers the prosecution's case must fail.

The two other defence lawyers representing Cuthill and Tim Rempel also argued that their clients are not guilty as the prosecution's case is so full of holes. cbcnews reported that Lane was fighting for visitation rights with the daughter he and Cuthill shared and the Crown believes that was the motivation for the murder. "Altogether it builds a case that's irrefutable," Buglas told jurors as he reviewed evidence presented throughout the week.

The jury will be given instructions by Justice Alan Macleod on Tuesday morning and will start deliberation in the afternoon.
