Aside from the fast cars, explosions, sophisticated machineries, and the elaborate action scenes, the tight bond between the characters has been the core of the Fast and Furious franchise, thus, the end of Brian O'Connor's journey in the seventh film became one of its most iconic moments. However, Lucas Black's Sean Boswell from 'Tokyo Drift' is speculated to return to for Fast and Furious 8 to take O'Connor's place as Dominic Toretto's new road partner.

According to Parent Herald, Black signed on for the seventh, eighth, and ninth installments of the franchise thus he could be the latest member of Dominic Toretto's gang. Black's Boswell was last seen in the sixth film as he informed Toretto about Deckard Shaw's connection to Han's death, and gave Han a proper burial in Los Angeles.

If Black's return to the franchise is an indication that he would be Toretto's new partner on the road, it could also mean that he would eventually exit as he has not signed on for the tenth film. Furthermore, as reported by Cross Map, recent speculations surrounding the projects indicate that Mad Max: Fury Road actress Charlize Theron could also be introduced in the franchise as the latest villain.

Having Theron on board as a villain could bring fresh elements to the plot which is good news for the final trilogy of the franchise. But with Jason Statham on board as well to reprise his role as Deckard Shaw, it could mean that Toretto's gang might have to face two villains in the upcoming film.

According to Enstarz, filming is set to take place in Cleveland as revealed at a panel during Cleveland International Film Festival. Several scenes are also to be filmed in Iceland where the biggest man-made explosions could be staged. Vin Diesel also revealed previously that the film will also film in New York through a teaser photo on Instagram.

F. Gary Gray is set to direct Fast and Furious 8, to be produced by Vin Diesel, Michael Fottrell, and Neal Moritz. It will feature the return of Diesel,  Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris.  It is currently slated to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
