Toy Story 4 is officially underway, promising a new round of adventure for Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Director John Lasseter hinted at a different direction compared to the first three films in the franchise while another Pixar director Lee Unkrich teased fans on the subject of Andy's dad.

Andy has grown up, but it does not directly mean that the adventures will stop for the adorable bunch of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Dolly and the others. However, unlike the previous trilogy, director John Lasseter revealed that the film will be headed for a more romantic arc for the love lives of Buzz and Woody.

 According to Vine Report, it was Pixar president Jim Morris who revealed that the film will opt for a different direction compared to the previous installments. Morris revealed that Toy Story 4 will not be a continuation of Toy Story 3.

"Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic-comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie.", Morris said. According to Movie News Guide, director John Lasseter also shared his excitement on the movie upon coming up with its story.

"We love these characters so much; they are like family to us ... But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie-and I wanted to direct it myself,", Lasseter said.

 Meanwhile, as reported by Crossmap, director Lee Unkrich commented about queries regarding Andy's dad. Unkrich said that the character was not added to the films since he was never relevant to the story. However, he also hinted that Woody could be important to Andy because it have been given to him by his father, although Unkrich also quickly noted  that the reason for Andy's special love for Woody remains to be an unspoken question.

Tom Hanks is set to reprise his role as Woody along with Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Annie Potts as Bo Peep, and Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head among many others. It  is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2018.
