Chet Hanks may be in serious trouble as well as his parents, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson.   One year after a car collision that involved Hanks' son, the actor and his wife were sued by a plaintiff claiming they are partially responsible. 

Terry Moogan filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming Hanks' son was high on drugs and or alcohol when he hit the car of the plaintiff last year. The lawsuit named Tom and Rita as the defendants and are pointed as the owners of the car that Chet was driving during the car crash,  E! Online reports. For this reason, Moogan's lawyers said that Tom and Rita are the one who's going to be held responsible over the plaintiff's physical and emotional injuries.

"Chester Hanks was driving his vehicle in an unreasonable and unsafe manner and was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time his vehicle struck Mr. Moogan's vehicle," the suit claims.

Hanks' son was also named as one of the defendants in the lawsuit for negligence, Yahoo reported. Chet was reported to have undergone rehabilitation for his substance abuse.  In September, he confessed his cocaine addiction in the social media. He posted a series of posts which are now deleted.

"Despite knowing that Chester Hanks was a careless and reckless driver and a habitual user of drugs and alcohol, they negligently permitted Chester Hanks to operate their vehicle and thus, in addition to Chester Hanks, are responsible for the physical and emotional injuries Mr. Moogan sustained as a result of the accident," the suit alleges, Entertainment Online claims.

In October, Tom spoke about his son's sobriety in the media during the premiere of "Bridge of Spies." During the time, he opened up about his role as a parent and that one has to love their kids unconditionally.  Tom added that one has to support their kids in every step of the way.
