Disney has officially green lit the upcoming adventure flick Indiana Jones 5. Franchise star Harrison Ford is interested and excited to reprise the titular character while director Steven Spielberg has officially tapped a trusted writer for the screenplay.

Another installment is underway for the adventure franchise and although details about casting have not been released yet, Ford recently made clear his intention of coming back to reprise his role as Indiana Jones. According to Cinemablend, Ford shared his thoughts about portraying the character in Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the DVD for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"The opportunity to work with Steven [Spielberg] again, and the chance to revisit this character which has brought pleasure to so many people - not to mention me. It's great fun to play this character, it's great fun to work with Steven. I'm looking forward to it.", Ford said.

Although Ford has been starring in the franchise as the central character, some are having second thoughts especially due to the fact that he will have been 77 years old by the time the film will reach the theaters. The weight of his character in relation to the plot for the fifth film is still unknown, however  Inquisitor reported that it could include a flashback to the '1930s bookended by Jones decades later'.

Meanwhile, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, director Steven Spielberg enlisted The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull co-writer David Koepp to write the upcoming film. Aside from the previous Indiana Jones movie, he also penned Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds movies.

Steven Spielberg is set to return to direct the upcoming fifth installment in the adventure franchise. Indiana Jones 5 is set to be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and George Lucas. It is slated to hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
