Samsung has finally pushed out the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to Galaxy S5 after weeks of putting the device into beta test. The official update began in South Korean, Samsung's homeland, and is expected to hit Galaxy S5 units in more countries very soon, including the United States.

Samsung Galaxy S5 phones in South Korea with model number SM - N920SK have finally been updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow since early this week. The software update is still running live and is expected to be capped off in a couple of days. This release in the Asian region is projected as beginning of follow through from other Samsung stations in other countries, especially the US.

The official update with build number N920SKXXXU2BPB6 brings Samsung's new web browser that supports ad-blocking on top of its original set of features and improvements.

For the record, there is no official Marshmallow release date for the update in the US yet; however, Samsung stations in other countries have already rolled out the official software update of Marshmallow to select phones in South Korea and Poland.

As to its partner mobile operators, T-Mobile USA is the only carrier to detail the software status of Galaxy S5 which is still in manufacturer development for five months now since its Marshmallow plans was revealed back in October 2015.

Meanwhile, the new web browser of Samsung on Android got a new API which enables developers to add ad blocker extension to kill annoying ads. This feature will only be made available to Samsung phones and tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

To begin using the ad blocking feature of Samsung's web browser, install a content blocking software like Adblock Fast from Play Store. Adblock Fast is said to be the first free open source content blocking software for Samsung's web browser. According to its developers, this software lets web pages to load 51% faster than any other content blocking software. It is also available on other browsers like Chrome and Opera.
