Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F Upgrades to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via XXU3DPAD Stock Firmware: How to Install

Samsung Galaxy S6 is finally getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via XXU3DPAD stock firmware. XXU3DPAD brings tweaks for TouchWiz and a lot of customization options.

Samsung Galaxy S6 with model number G920F can now be updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow using the stock firmware XXU3DPAD. On top of the firmware's advanced tweaks and improvements, Marshmallow is slated to come with a better TouchWiz user interface, battery-saver Doze, Android Pay and fingerprint support. XXU3DPAD has been proven stable in many tests already.

However, consider the following precautionary measures and prerequisites first before installing the stock firmware on the device:

1.     Use only Samsung Galaxy S6 with model number G920F. Using other variant may cause severe damage to phone.

2.     Install TWRP Recovery here.

3.     Back up all necessary data here.

4.     Download a driver here.

Here is a step-by-strep guide to download and install XXU3DPAD to Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F:

1.     Download Android 6.0.1 XXU3DPAD here and extract the zip file.

2.     Download Odin v3.09 here.

3.     Turn off phone.

4.     Go to Download mode by press holding volume down and home buttons together.

5.     Press the power button twice.

6.     Open Odin on the PC.

7.     Once connected, wait for the ID:COM boxes to turn into yellow with the COM port number.

8.     Select the files to be flashed or installed on the phone.

9.     In Odin, check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.

10.  Click the Start button for begin installation.

11.  Wait until the installation is completed.

 To check the software version, go to Settings > About phone.
