Google Nexus 7 (2013) phones of Verizon Wireless have just received the latest Android security patches for March 2015. The device is now reportedly gearing up for the upcoming Android N software.

Verizon Wireless has publicized earlier today that the latest Android security patches are rolling out to its Google Nexus 7 (2013) units. On top of the latest security patches, the software update is promised to amp up device performance and resolve some issues.

Google Nexus 7 (2013) units of Verizon have been with Android 6.0 Marshmallow since last year when the company first released the latest software. The update comes with software version MMB29Q.

Meanwhile, the device has been reported gearing up for Android N. The upcoming software version has not been named yet, while there is no concrete information as of this time as to when will it be out. However, some of its features have already surfaced, which include 3D Touch and Nexus VR support, among a few others.

Security updates take around 6-10 minutes to download the software and another 6-10 minutes to install. Before proceeding with the download and installation, Verizon reminded to connect Nexus 7 (2013) to a Wi-Fi network first or a strong Verizon signal. Also, make sure that battery is fully charged.

If the carrier has not notified the device for the update through over-the-air (OTA) roll out, navigate the process manually by going to Settings > About tablet > System updates. Follow on screen instructions. When download is done, device will pop up a message that a new software is ready for installation. Just tap Install Now and follow on screen notifications.

If Verizon is able to notify a device automatically that the update is ready, just tap Install Now to proceed. Then follow manual navigation steps given. Tap Restart & Install. The device shall reboot and installation will begin. The update can also be download and installed while roaming via Wi-Fi network.
