Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phones under Verizon Wireless are the first units to receive the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which began since last March 4. Although, there is no confirmation yet as when other carriers will release the update to their versions, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular must now be getting ready for release.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 under T-Mobile and Telus is confirmed for update to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in the coming weeks. However, other carriers like AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular have not outlined yet as to when they are releasing the update.

T-Mobile is currently in the development stage still for Galaxy Note 5. Units under the magenta carrier have been in development for barely five months now since it was revealed for Marshmallow update back in October 2015. Meanwhile, Sprint and US Cellular surprisingly fell behind the lead.

If Marshmallow has not reached Verizon Galaxy Note 5 units, go to Settings > About phone > Update Center > System Updates > Check for Update. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on Verizon with software version MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2 is guaranteed to help improve device performance and solve bug issues through security patches.

Per change log released by Verizon Wireless on its support page, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring a selection of new features and enhancements to Galaxy Note 5 phones to improve mobile experience.

Wi-Fi calling has been enabled on the device for HD Voice users. To activated HD Voice, go to Settings > Advanced Calling > Activate Advanced Calling then turn on Wi-Fi calling.

Live broadcast also offers enhancements. To access it, go to Camera > Mode > Live broadcast. A shortcut can also be created on home screen for quick access. To create shortcut of Live broadcast, just tap the checkbox "Create shortcut on home screen" or go directly to Settings > Create shortcut.

Sending live broadcasts invites to contacts not saved on phone is also made possible. To do this, just enter the phone number then tap the Invite button.

The Amazon Appstore, meanwhile, has been removed.
