Sony has finally spoken about its Android 6.0 Marshmallow release to its devices. The company just confirmed over Twitter that official release will begin with Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+ phones.

Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+ have been finally announced to receive the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update first among others. According to Sony Xperia UK's Twitter account, these devices will receive the much-awaited software update on March 7.

Sony made an announcement back in October 2015 to roll out said update to these phones among many others by the first quarter of 2016. The Japanese giant already made a bluff over Twitter before, dropping release dates but did not push through. With March 7 being too specific of a release date, it is not far from reality that Sony is determined to roll out the update just in the nick of time.

In the first week of February, there had been reports that Marshmallow will be rolled out to Xperia Z4 Tablet on a later time due to some issues. It seemed now that Sony was able to handle it. As to Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z3+, it is no wonder that official Marshmallow update is coming up since these devices have already been used for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept of Sony along with Xperia Z3.

However, the latest report from the Xperia Blog pointed out that the new firmware has been certified by the PTCRB for Xperia Z3+ with build number 32.1.A.0.434. This device currently runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with firmware version 28.0.A.8.272.

As everyone would know it, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in a ton of new features and improvements that will surely spice up Android experience. Some notable additions and improvements include Doze mode, Now on Tap, runtime permissions, fingerprint scanner support, USB Type-C support, direct share, app links, redesigned app drawer, and device optimizations.
