Bill Murray has been involved in a phone throwing incident last Thursday for being the center of attention at a rooftop lounge. The American actor was apparently annoyed with the flashes from cameras used by patrons at the restaurant to take pictures of him.
According to BBC, the actor was "hanging out" at the Vesuvio rooftop lounge in the seaside town of Carmel in California, hosting a tequila party, alongside RnB singer Justin Timberlake. Murray reportedly got angry when "a few patrons got star struck and took his picture".
"The flashes were going off only 10 feet away from Bill and he got so angry he got up and chucked their phones off the second storey rooftop," the owner of the restaurant said.
Murray allegedly grabbed at least two devices then threw them off the roof.
The 65-year old actor was no longer in aforementioned event lounge when the police came for an investigation, US Magazine cited. However, the authorities have spoken with "The Jungle Book" actor's representatives the day after.
He admitted the incident and expressed his annoyance when he started noticing flashes from various mobile phones taking a photo of him, The Guardian shared. Fortunately for the actor, phone owners of decided not to press further charges and denied they were taking photographs.
"None of the victims want to press charges," Carmel police department commander Paul Tomasi said. "It's not a criminal case, it's a civil case and it'll be handled through Mr. Murray and the victims."
Moreover, the Hollywood actor has offered to pay for the mobile phones he allegedly threw out during the incident. Apparently, owners of the devices were happier to be compensated by the actor rather than go and file charges against him.
The owner of the venue cleared that Murray was not drinking that night.
