The fourth season of the House of Cards is downright ominous. The Underwoods are under siege, and this time they are at war with each other. The latest trailer and poster released by Netflix shows a new batch of scheming characters, Claire on the warpath, gun and murder, and Frank getting assaulted (in more ways than one).

Entertainment Weekly first gives us a hint of the things to come with its exclusive report on the season 4 poster and a few of its episodes.  It describes the Underwoods in a civil war. The poster shows the once-happy united couple split, staring coldly ahead at the direction of the viewer but not at each other. In the last episode of season 3, Claire walks out of the White House and exits Frank's life. Entertainment Weekly asks if the former First Lady will do the ultimate betrayal and run for president herself.

Netflix also tells Entertainment Weekly, "Frank and Claire continue their pursuit for power, battling everyone in their way, including each other,"  

Meanwhile, Vox shows the trailer and describes it as oozing with "blood, sex, prison and Congress."  The voice-over has Frank and Claire accusing each other of destroying their future. Frank had the last line, "We had a future until you started destroying it!"

But it's Observer's scene-by-scene breakdown of the 60-second trailer that makes it tantalizing. Some of the things to watch out for:

Claire walks back into the White House. Frank does not say anything because a VIP is in the room. The Underwoods give each other dagger looks.

Frank gets beaten and slapped around by an unknown person. Claire is watching. Maybe she even instigated it.

A lady in a bar looks like the late Zoe Barnes, the journalist whom Frank bedded and then later murdered. Is this a ghost, an imposter, or a lookalike to rattle Frank's cage?

A jail scene where someone gets beaten, big-time.

Pandemonium erupts in a huge crowd scene.  Is there an attempt on Frank's life?

More questions, more mysteries, and an Underwood civil war.  That's more than enough to keep everyone watching.
