Sony has now made available the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta update in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands with Xperia Z2 the new test model to enter into the concept scene. Official update is deemed imminent in the United States following the concept being rolled to more countries.

Sony Xperia Z2 being one of the best-selling smartphones the company has ever made is now poised to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept in more countries, including the United States. Recently, Marshmallow beta was released to units in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

Interested device owners can avail of the concept by installing the Xperia Beta Program app from Play Store. Sony Xperia Z2 (D6503) will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow with full access to developers' version of the software.

Beta programs are designed for device manufacturers to get immediate from device owners' end with the performance of the software update using the phone. Bug threats causing excessive battery drain and poor device performance is the most reported issue. Reports will then be sent to the developers to provide fixes on the matter to remove or mitigate the problem.

A reported February or early March release date has been ringing a bell in the tech society. However, there is no confirmation coming from Samsung yet. Last year, Sony already released an estimated time of arrival (ETA) of Marshmallow for its phones.

Aside from Sony Xperia Z2, included in the beta program are Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact.

Marshmallow concept brings faster system performance and a killer battery life improvement. It also offers Google's native features like Doze Mode, a battery saving feature, and the new app permissions. It also brings a new home launcher that allows users to switch the app names within the dock on and off. Included here as well are media apps Album, Music and the stock Camera app.
