The Legend of Zelda Wii U (working title) was supposed to be released this year, however, the 2016 release is yet to be confirmed officially by Nintendo. Thus, the game is making the rounds this month as one of the biggest delayed video games of 2016.

According to GameSpot, The Nintendo Wii U had a very difficult 2015 and with the death of Saturo Iwata among other things, the Legend of Zelda Wii U seems to have been placed in the back burner for now.

It can be recalled that the Wii U exclusive game was slated to be released last year but it was not even presented during E3 2015. The games press is still hopeful for a 2016 release and just lists the game as TBA 2016.

Gamers posit that the delay in the release was due to the ambitious gameplay elements that Nintendo wants to introduce in the game. According to Ecumenical News, there are rumors that the game will be released on the Nintendo NX console.

The mysterious game is also still listed on Amazon with a price tag of $59.99 and a release date of December 2016. This is not the first time that Amazon creates pre-order pages for delayed games. There is no confirmation as of this writing that Amazon got the date from a reliable source.

Legend of Zelda is one of the most innovative games during the lifespan of the original NES. Original creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka revealed early on that the game was inspired by the wide-eyed innocence of kids exploring the places around them.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U has been in closed development state since 2013. It was later revealed on E3 2014 to the delight of Nintendo fans. It was in 2015 that producer Eiji Aonuma first announced that the game will be delayed.
