During the past two years, Under Armour has slowly made its mark on the fitness industry, it has introduced an array of products for every fitness level. Still wanting to prove some more, the company has just released the Gemini 2, its first sensor- filled sneakers that monitors the users fitness activities.

When consumers first lay their eyes on these shoes, they would say that it looks like any ordinary fitness kickers. But little did they know that inside the Gemini 2's soles are little sensors that tracks users every movement, the distance one traveled and how many calories one burned during the activity.

What separates the Gemini 2 from other fitness monitoring shoe is that wearers don't have to carry any smartphone or device to pair it with. The shoe automatically collects data and can be sync with any monitoring device later after the activity. To do this, the user will only have to download Under Armour's MapMyRun app which connects via Bluetooth and activation of the device is as simple as shaking one's right shoe.

Battery life on the shoe sensors are incredible, experts say that it will outlast the actual shoe. This is a very important characteristic of a fitness shoe as athletes tend to replace their sneakers every few months. Experts from Under armour say that the battery life will last for about 450 miles of running.

Under Armour executives told reporters that this is only the beginning. The company is looking into the possibility of applying the Gemini 2's technology into other sports shoe as well. One sport in particular is soccer where in the algorithm of the Gemini will be perfect as it is made for unchained runs because the soccer players are stopping and running at the same time. The Gemini 2 will be released this spring and will come in two colors, grey/light green and charcoal/red.
