'Green Lantern Corps' is an upcoming science-fiction action film based on the DC comics team of the same name. DC's Geoff Johns confirmed that the film's characters will be included in the upcoming films in the Justice League shared universe. Chris Pine denied involvement and said that he was never offered a lead role for the film despite the rumors.

According to ComicBook, the heroes of 'Green Lantern Corps' will be joining the upcoming 'Justice League' series of films. DC's chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the news during the special screening of 'Dawn of the Justice League'.

He said, "We've been to the bottom of the ocean... We've been to ancient Greek mythology, we've been to the past and future with the Flash, we've been to the digital world with Cyborg.  We still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps are coming to join the Justice League universe."

In the original comic books, the intergalactic police force was created and led by the Guardians of the Universe. Some of the most notable Green Lanterns include Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner and Alan Scott.

According to Blastr, footage of some of the Green Lanterns was flashed on screen at the special screening hosted by Kevin Smith. It also featured clips of important 'Justice League' characters including Ray Fisher's Cyborg, Ezra Miller's The Flash and Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

Warner Bros. previously announced the plans for an upcoming 'Green Lantern Corps' film at the San Diego Comic Con last summer but gave no further details regarding the project. Fan speculation emerged of Chris Pine's involvement as the film's lead protagonist.

However, the actor himself admitted that he was never offered the role in the first place. According to Collider, he addressed the confusion during an interview for his new film 'The Finest Hours'. He said, "No. I was not offered Green Lantern ever, I've never had a conversation about Green Lantern."

Pine is set to star in another upcoming DC film, 'Wonder Woman', alongside Gal Gadot. He will play Steve Trevor, the film's male lead and Wonder Woman's love interest.

'Green Lantern Corps' is a planned reboot of the Green Lantern cinematic series and is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2020. The science-fiction action film is about a group of peacekeeping heroes tasked at protecting the universe.
