Paramount announced that director Juan Antonio Bayona quits as World War Z director. The studio said that the reason Director Bayona left World War Z 2 is due to his attachment to other films.

Although Director Bayona signed up to World War Z 2 in 2013, he was also assigned to helm Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver's new fantasy movie entitled a Monster Calls. BBC News reported that the film would hit the theaters by October 14, 2016. Because of Bayona's pre-existing movie commitment, he can no longer make World War Z 2 this year, and Paramount is adamant of releasing the film next year.

Most of the fans felt frustrated by the news since they knew that Bayona's take on the zombie genre is quite different from the others. His cinematic style has depths, and one could say that his zombie film is fun at the same time smart. There's sheer adrenaline in Bayona's World War Z and brains to keep the critics on their toes. The director made a brooding zombie film and had not infused clichés which dominate the genre. Director Bayona elevated the popular culture of zombie movies to another level.

World War Z earned $540 million in worldwide box office and Paramount can hear the clamor among the fans exclaiming they want a sequel at the soonest time. While Bayona did a good job directing the film, it was no brainer that Brad Pitt contributed to the success of the movie, as reported by Screen Rant.

While director Juan Antonio Bayona left the franchise, the story of World War Z is smooth enough for other potential directors to apply their creativeness without being too conscious of many details. Dennis Kelly, famous for his script Utopia, will write the screenplay of World War Z 2.

According to MTV, though the first World War Z film was excellent, the storyline of the movie is different from its source materials. Nobody batted an eye with such issue, as it is obvious how Bayona turned the Max Brooks' book into a cinematic wonder.

It is obvious that stakes went high for the next director of World War Z 2. However, fans are hopeful that World War Z 2 will still pack not only good action sequences but clever plotlines. Paramount Studio plans to release World War Z 2 in the US on June 9, 2017.
