Marvel's Doctor Strange has added a new addition to the roster of stars in the feature with the recent casting of Benedict Wong as Strange's ally, Wong. The upcoming movie is also speculated to feature new areas of the MCU that are yet to be explored in other films.

Marco Polo's Benedict Wong has been confirmed to play the role of Doctor Strange's assistant/ally, Wong. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wong was portrayed in the comics as a manservant to Dr Strange, helping him in his every day affairs, assisting in ocult matters, performing healing duties, and watching over Strange's body when he is performing astral projection.

In the comics, Wong is a descendant from a line of monks who is unable to perform magic by himself but is knowledgeable in martial arts. As reported by Cinemablend, Wong sticks around with Doctor Strange as he was assigned by The Ancient One to come with the hero to the United States to assist him in his affairs and in fighting forces of evil.

However, the version of Wong in the comics could be different from that of the version in the MCU. It is speculated that the MCU version could be less of a manservant and instead be of the same footing as Doctor Strange.

Wong is the latest addition to the current list of actors in the project which includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Mads Mikkelsen  as well as Rachel McAdams in currently unconfirmed roles.

The upcoming film is expected to tell the story of Doctor Strange who, in the comics, sought for the help of magic to cure his hands after a terrible car incident caused for them to lose their proper function. According to Den of Geek, the movie is set to  expose the mystical side of MCU.

MCU's mystical realm is rumored to feature the darkest side of multiple pocket universes where villanous creatures reside an d battle Doctor Strange. It could also include flashbacks of Doctor Strange's freaky childhood which are Baron Mordo's attempts to end the character after finding out that he was destined to be the next Sorcerer Supreme.

Doctor Strange is currently in filming stage and is directed by Scott Derrickso. It is expected to be released in theaters on November 4, 2016.
