Motorola has promised to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade to its Moto G second generation handsets. Now, the firmware upgrade is said to be under soak testing in countries like India and Brazil.

According to International Business Times, David Schuster, Motorola's Senior Director of software product management, has announced the start of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow soak test for Moto G second generation. This is just a few days after the Chinese smartphone maker posted the firmware's release notes on the Motorola Mobility India support page.

Schuster stated that he is pleased to announce that they are starting the soak test for Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the 2014 Moto G (2nd Gen) and 2014 Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd Gen) for Brazil and India retail channels devices. They are reportedly  monitoring the soak for next week and with good results, the company will proceed to full launch of the firmware upgrade.

Gospel Herald cited some of the improvements that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring to Moto G (2nd Gen). The Motorola smartphone users can now find an option for Do not disturb under the Sound and notification settings. This will make sure that they would not be interrupted during meetings or while sleeping. This feature is similar to Moto Assist, so the tech company is ditching the old app as part of the upgrade to Android Marshmallow.

Moto X and Moto X Style owners from Brazil and India have already obtained the Android M on AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular last December. There are talks stating that Moto X, 2014 Moto X, and Moto G users from India and Australia received their new operating system as well.

Other devices that are set to get the Android 6.0 include the Moto X 2nd Gen (2014), the Moto X Pure Edition (2015), the Moto X Play, the Moto X Force, and the Moto X Style. Similarly, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is also expected to land on the Motorola G series that includes the Moto G Turbo, 2014 editions of the Moto G and Moto G 4G, as well as the Moto G 3rd Generation from 2015.

Following Moto G (Gen 2), the next device that will get the new operating system is the Droid Turbo 2. Users of this handset from Verizon will obtain Android M very soon. In fact, Verizon employees already have the update on their Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition.
