Jodi Arias, the woman accused of the brutal stabbing, shooting and killing of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander, resumed on Tuesday after a 5-day absence. Arias is expected to take to stand to describe the night she killed Alexander, which she said was done out out of self-defense.

Prosecutors in the case have sought to depict Arias as a vindictive and jealous killer.

Arias has talked at length about her troubled life, including an abusive childhood and acquiring dead-end jobs, leading up to her failed romance with Alexander. Experts said defense lawyers are trying to build sympathy with jurors. She has yet to discuss the the killing Wednesday's testimony will be the most important and perhaps most pertinent in the lurid and racy trial.

Jurors have already seen naked pictures of Arias, causing somewhat of a stir in the courtroom.

"I have no memory of stabbing him," Arias testified on Wednesday.

Nor does she remember dragging him across floor.

"I just remember trying to get away from him," she said.

Arias faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder of killing Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home.
