Samsung has been confirmed releasing a beta version of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 units since last week. New reports have surfaced that Galaxy Note Edge must be geared up along with a few other devices to be updated when the official Marshmallow build comes out.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, being the first Samsung phone to sport the famed edge screen technology, was confirmed already for the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The questions now remains when the South Korean titan is rolling out the software to the device.

In the wake of reports sprouting about some mobile carriers to let out the Marshmallow to certain Samsung phones by the first week of February, speculations on the imminent update of Galaxy Note Edge also swirled.

It is not, however, certain as of now if Samsung still has to roll out the final Lollipop version as most phones under carriers do not have it yet. T-Mobile is the sole carrier to release Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Galaxy Note Edge while Sprint and Verizon have Android 5.1 and AT&T and US Cellular have Android 5.0.1.

Being the biggest software update in Google's history, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in features and enhancements in aspects of contextual assistance, battery, Android Runtime (ART), battery management, system usability, connectivity, productivity, storage, device setup and migration, media, and many more.

Doze Mode monitors the device's activity and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life. Google Now on Tap offers more accurate and more useful recommendations based on the users' possible scope of interest. By press holding the home button, Google Now a will show up with its recommendation.

Meanwhile, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will carry a new and updated set of 200 emojis and more, plus security patches for MMS, video, camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and others.
