Former Ohio State football star Maurice Claret has been charged driving under the influence early this January. He was caught initially by State Highway Patrol because of changing lanes without signaling when he was making her way to up north in I-71 in Morrow County before 2 p.m.

According to Dispatch, State Highway Patrol had received several calls that someone is driving recklessly and unsafely serving through the lanes of the highway; hence, the stop. The former Ohio State football star was caught speeding up, inconsistently slowing down and changing gears. He appeared to be avoiding traffic and had several encounters of almost hitting other vehicles along the highway. Maurice Clarett was reportedly driving an Infiniti SUV towards Morrow County before the halt. 

The former Ohio State football star allegedly refused to undergo and take the breath analyzer test and was then arrested for OVI. Saturday Tradition shared that this is not a new encounter for Maurice Clarett. He is currently striving and working hard to live a clean life after he was released from prison because of his 2006 armed robbery arrest. He even worked and served as a public speaker to youth camps, prison and was affiliated with different schools.

It was noted that Maurice Clarett has gotten involved in various cases in relation with drug abuse. Sporting News cited that in the Ohio's State National Championship in 2002, he had reportedly lured on several legal and substance-abuse issues that occurred since he left college after his first year. He also got arrested for robbery a decade back.

The former Ohio State football star was released from prison in February 2015 and now arrested one more time for driving under the influence and traffic violation charges. He appeared in Morrow County Court in Mount Gilead for his initial trial.
