'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' is an upcoming action-adventure film based on the original television series from the 1990s. Lionsgate recently pushed back its scheduled release date to March 2017. Becky G, who will portray Yellow Ranger, admitted to being a huge fan of the original series growing up.

According to the Business Standard, the live-action reboot of the popular children's television series has been moved to March 24, 2017. Lionsgate originally scheduled it for a January 2017 release after being pushed back from the original July 2017 slot. It was reported that the film's delay can be attributed to the studio's strategy of avoiding the release dates of other potential blockbuster competition such as 'Dark Tower', 'Monster Trucks', 'Geo Storm' and 'Friday the 13^th'.

Dean Israelite of 'Project Almanac' will direct the new film based on a screenplay prepared by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The new cast includes Hollywood newcomers Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart a.k.a. Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston a.k.a. Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor a.k.a. Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott a.k.a. Red Ranger and Becky G as Trini Kwan a.k.a. Yellow Ranger.

According to Anime News Network, actor and pro-MMA fighter Jason David Frank, who played the iconic Tommy Oliver a.k.a. Green Ranger in the original television series, expressed his enthusiasm over making a possible cameo in the new film.

Meanwhile, Becky G revealed that she was a massive fan of the original series during her childhood years. The rapper-turned-actress told Time that she was "geeking out" upon learning of being cast as the Yellow Ranger in the 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' cinematic remake.

She added, "I think for some people, they're like, "Isn't Power Rangers cheesy?" No! What's so cool about being a part of this is we're going to give it a whole new identity. It's going to be so much more creative and so much more relevant to now. I feel like a lot of kids, and even people older, too, are really going to be able to relate to it."
