The Lifetime movie based on the Casey Anthony murder is ready for its release this month. The network has released first glimpses of the movie in its trailer starring Robert Lowe and Virginia Welch.

Watch the trailer here.

Lowe will be playing Jeff Ashton in another Lifetime production called "Prosecuting Casey Anthony. "The movie is based on the Ashton's book "Imperfect Justice," published in November 2011, in which the Florida State Prosecutor explains the case from an insider perspective, he confronts the infamous verdict of acquittal and remains adamant on Casey's guilt in the murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony.

The role of Casey Anthony will be played by actress Virginia Welch. Elizabeth Mitchell as Linda Drane Burdick (State Attorney), Oscar Nunez as Jose Baez (lead defense attorney), Kevin Dunn as George Anthony (Casey's father) and Marina Stephenson Kerr as Cindy Anthony (Casey's mother).

The film is currently in post-production and will hit screens this New Years.

In May 2011, the 22-year-old was charged with first degree murder of her two year old daughter Caylee, whose body was discovered in a near-by forest. Anthony pleaded not guilty, her father George Anthony was accused of helping his daughter hide the body of his grand-daughter. George also denied all allegations.

The Casey Anthony trial received huge media attention, with perennially changing testimonies from witness ( including the parents of Anthony) and only conclusive evidence, the story grabbed the nation's attention as if a TV suspense drama with its many twists and turns and of course at the center of it a shifty mysterious protagonist. In the end, the six week trial ended with the 22-year-old mother being acquitted, but the public being just as suspicious and prejudice.

Earlier this month, Anthony was set free after completing her year-long probation for a check fraud conviction she received in 2011. However, Florida Department of Corrections officials told the Washington Post that no public announcement about the end of her probation or the location of the now 23-year-old will be made due to security reasons. Officials say that Anthony has received death threats.

The film is scheduled to be released in January 2013.
