Lenovo has finally launched the K4 Note handset, an upgraded version of the K3 Note model that was released last year. The new version is armed with enhancements and changes that tech enthusiasts are expected to like once its rolled out.

International Business Times made a keen comparison between the Lenovo K4 Note and Lenovo K3 Note. For display and design, the Lenovo K3 Note features a polycarbonate rear panel and measures 8 mm in thickness whereas the K4 Note is thicker at the center in 9.15 mm. On its edges, the K4 Note measures only 3.8 mm.

The Lenovo K4 Note features a completely black colored polycarbonate shell with a durable metallic frame on its sides. The front side sports dual stereo speakers. Both Lenovo K4 Note and K3 Note are phablet devices that are fitted with 5.5-inch full HD screen. The newer handset however, is armed with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

When it comes to chipset, RAM and storage, the Lenovo K4 Note is engineered with a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core chipset that is coupled with 3 GB of RAM. On the other hand, the MediaTek MT6752 chipset and 2 GB of RAM is present under the chassis of Lenovo K3 Note.

Both handsets are packed with 16 GB of native storage but the K3 Note is backed up with up to 32 GB of microSD. Its successor model supports up to 128 GB of microSD card.

The Lenovo K4 Note is obtainable in two variants, one featuring 3 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of storage and another with 2 GB of RAM that has multiple storage options like 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB.

A 13-megapixel f/2.2 aperture camera is present on the rear side of K4 Note that features dual-tone dual LED flash and auto phase detection while the K3 Note is armored with a 13-megapixel f/2.0 aperture camera with dual-LED flash. Both devices come with 5-megapxiel selfie camera.

The K3 Note is running on an Android 5.0 Lollipop OS while the K4 Note features Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. The Lollipop OS on both smartphones are overlaid with Vibe UI.

NDTV Gadgets stated that the phablet is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts two Micro-SIM. It offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n./ac, v4.0 Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, and aGPS. K3 Note on the other hand, lacks NFC and features connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, v4.1 Bluetooth, USB OTG and aGPS. 

As for the battery and price, the Lenovo K3 Note comes with 3,000 mAh battery while its successor is equipped with 3,300 mAh battery. The K4 Note is accessible in a price tag of 11,900 rupees ($187). The older smartphone is available for 9,999 rupees ($149).

The Chinese smartphone maker is slated to sell Lenovo K4 Note + ANTVR bundle that will include the smartphone along with a virtual reality headset for a price tag of 12,499 rupees ($187). The VR headset separately costs 1,299 rupees ($19).

Times of India reported that Lenovo K4 Note comes with Dolby Atmos sound enhancement technology that works on the two frontal loudspeakers as well as the earphones. This is the same technology that is incorporated only for the earphones in K3 Note.

The new version is expected to be powered with newer features as well like fingerprint sensor and TheaterMax. The latter will let users to convert games, videos or any other multiple content into virtual reality to view on a large screen display.

Lenovo K4 Note might have newer and fresher features compared to its predecessor but K3 also surpasses its successor in terms of price. Despite the differences, the two devices mostly have similarities and the top spot still depends on the user's needs and wants.
