U.S. Elections: Mitt Romney Campaign Raised Over $100 Million in June

By

On Monday, the Romney campaign announced that it raised around $106 million in the month of June. The money was raised by the Romney campaign in conjunction with the Republican National Committee known as the Romney Victory Fund.

Spencer Zwick, chairman of Romney Victory National Finance told Fox News, "This month's fundraising is a statement from voters that they want a change of direction in Washington... In the months to come, these resources will be crucial to highlighting the difference between President Obama's broken promises and Mitt Romney's plan to get America on the right track again."

According to reports the amount is record breaking for the assumed Republican presidential candidate for the 2012 elections. The Obama campaign announced its funds for June to be $71 million, but did not disclose its cash-on-hands amount. However, looking at the May collection in which the Obama re-election campaign managed to raise $17 million less than his Republican opponent, there is a good chance that Romney beat him in collections this month as well. Romney raised around $77 million in May, while Obama raised around $60 million.

According the Romney Campaign, more than $22.3 million was earned in donations smaller than $250, with an average of $3.5 million per day. Romney is currently scheduled to attend a fundraiser in Aspen, Colorado on Monday.
