Apple aficionados should start gearing up for the latest release of the iPad Mini 3. With Apple's history of releasing new gadgets every October, iPad rumors abound as October 2014 closes in.

PC Advisor UK pointed out that with Apple's history of launching the iPad, it would seem likely that the tech giant will host an event in October to launch both the third-generation iPad mini and a new iPad air before making them available to buy in November.

It added that KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo had said that people should expect the iPad mini 3 to arrive during the third quarter of 2014, placing the Mini 3's launch between July and September.

As an example, Apple had launched the iPad Air and the Retina iPad Mini in October 2013, and in October 2012, the iPad 4 was launched together with the first iPad mini.

As for the iPad Mini 3's tech specs, there is no clear information as of yet, but Gigjets reported that the third device from the iPad Mini series will be labeled under the name of "iPad Mini Air." It said that according to the Taiwan Economic Daily News, the new iPad will have an extremely thin body, and will be 30% less thick than its predecessor.

In addition to this, Gigjets also said that the iPad Mini Air will come with a new A8 processor and Retina Display. There is also rumors circulating that the third generation of the iPad mini will feature a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and a support for iOS 8's new SDK, which allows third-party developers to access the fingerprint scanner for verification purposes.

PC Advisor UK also added that the iPad Mini Air will still have the same 7.9 inch Retina Display and 2048 x 1536 screen resolution.
