North Carolina Mother Arrested for 80 Counts of Sex Crimes Involving Minors

The crimes reportedly occurred between 2018 and 2019

A married North Carolina woman has been arrested for allegedly committing 80 sex crimes involving underaged victims including the statutory rape of minors, officials say.

44-year-old Sara Jean Sellers has been arrested and charged with 20 counts each of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15, statutory sex offense with a child under 15 and indecent liberties with a child, 10 counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and 10 counts of statutory rape of a child by adult, reported the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

The Shallotte resident is a married woman with two daughters. Investigators have not yet disclosed the number of victims affected by Sellers, but at least two of them were 12-year-old boys according to WWAY.

The crimes reportedly occurred between 2018 and 2019. Sellers was appointed a bond of $2 million after her attorney requested a $400,000 secured bond.

"This remains an ongoing investigation. The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information or any individuals who may have been victimized by Sellers to come forward. Please contact Detective Shepherd at (910) 363-6976," said the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office in a statement.

"The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office remains committed to protecting the community's most vulnerable and ensuring that justice is served."
