A Michigan man who tortured his wife with a makeshift electrocution device was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years in prison.

Saul Lucio-Ipina, 32, pleaded no contest to two counts of torture in connection with the repeated abuse of his now ex-spouse, according to MLive.

"I just want to apologize to my victim first of all," Lucio-Ipina told the court without naming her during his sentencing hearing Monday, the outlet reported. "(And) everyone I hurt in this process – which is my entire family."

The victim testified earlier this month to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her former husband, which was triggered by suspicions of her cheating on him.

She told investigators Lucio-Ipina tied her to a children's swing in their Grand Rapids, Michigan basement in 2023, wrapped a metal wire around her arms and back, and attached jumper cables to it.

He electrocuted her on and off for five hours.

In another incident, he tied a noose around her neck.

"Anyone who would do this type of thing, I think is a danger in general," said Judge George Jay Quist, according to WOOD-TV. "This is some of the most egregious conduct that I've seen in this court."
