Nicole Kidman to Join 'Aquaman' Cast As Queen Atlanta

By

Earlier this week, Ben Affleck released the sad news that he would no longer be directing the upcoming Batman movie. But it looks like Warner Bros. and DC Comics have come up with a big news to distract the audience from the report, saying that upcoming blockbuster "Aquaman" might rope in Nicole Kidman for a pivotal role in the movie.

It is high likely that Nicole Kidman will play the iconic villain role as Black Manta for the movie, also as Aquaman's mother. The Hollywood Reporter reported the details of this development, saying that the Australian actress is now in discussion with Warner Bros. to be a part of the Aquaman ensemble.

James Wan's Aquaman already includes some iconic people among the cast, such as Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Willem Defoe (Dr. Vulko) and Patrick Wilson (Orm). Whereas Kidman will play the role of a descendant from a royal bloodline who falls in love with a lighthouse keeper and ends up having a child together. It is this child who grows up to become the King of Atlantis and one of the cores Justice League members.

With the recent casting, the movie seems to be going well underway, which is a good news for DC fans who have been grieving over Affleck's exodus from his solo Batman movies.

James Wan, the director of Conjuring, is ready to make big moves with Aquaman. He told Cinema Blend, "There are so many superhero movies now; I don't want to make a superhero movie now for the sake of doing it, but there's something unique to the world of Aquaman."

"There's a reason why they've never made a movie about this until now because technology has never allowed us to tackle something this complicated. And so because of that it feels like something different, and that uniqueness is what I'm excited about," he said. Aquaman is hoping to be released on Oct. 5, 2018.
