Following the announcement of an untitled "X Men" TV series, it's confirmed that the small screen adaptation is also connected to Fox's "X-Men" movies.
The untitled "X-Men" series will be joining "Legion" as small screen adaptations set within the "X Men" universe. While "Legion" is set within its own universe, the untitled series has ties to the "X Men" cinematic universe.
Best of both worlds
"X Men" director Bryan singer will be handling the untitled project along with Matt Nix as both writer and producer. Nix was tight-lipped when it comes to revealing details about the project.
However, he did reveal that the series will take place within the "X Men" film universe, according to a report from Comicbook. Not only that, he also teased that there will be "definite nods" between the series and its movie counterpart.
As for the plot, a report from Variety mentions that it will involve two human parents who happen to have mutant children. In order to protect their extraordinary kids, the parents decide to join a network of mutants.
Of course, all of this is done while escaping a seemingly hostile government. The plot itself has shades of the upcoming "Logan" film's storyline.
Legion hopes to establish itself
Meanwhile, "Legion" creator Noah Hawley explained that his TV series is set in its "own separate world." Although Hawley isn't crossing-off the possibility of merging with the "X Men" film universe, he admitted that he's not "relying" on the idea.
According to a report from ComicBookMovie.com, the "Legion" showrunner wanted to prove himself first. Hawley hopes to establish the "Legion" series first in hopes that it would be "good enough" to be merged with the cinematic universe.
Despite the differences of both "X Men" TV shows, they will certainly garner the interest of fans in the months to come.
