By

Samsung has release its new mid-range smartphone of J Lines - Galaxy J7 Prime this week. The new device, although it is not quite the most powerful smartphone in Samsung's collection, it is certainly no pack of small beans to cough at. Here are the 5 reasons why you would want Galaxy J7 Prime as your new smartphone, according to Slashgear.

1.    Industrial Design

The device works with the same basic aesthetic as the company's top-selling Galaxy S line. It features metallic design, surrounded with smooth glass up front with a transition of same-colored material between. It has many of its components in the same place as Galaxy S-line such as power button on the side, power plug on the bottom and a headphone jack.

2.    Excellent display

The mid-range smartphones nowadays no longer have terrible specs just because of its low cost. Galaxy J7 Prime features a display of 5.5-inches (13.88 cm) large with 1080 x 1920 pixels, of a PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen that covers 73.3 percent of its front-facing body.

3.    Fingerprint Scanner

Similar to the Nokia 6, this mid-range smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner, which will come in handy with growing number of applications utilizes the feature.

4.    Strong processor

Super powerful processors are no longer exclusive to high end devices. J7 Prime is equipped with Exynos 7870 Octa SoC (8 Cores), 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 with GPU Mali-T830MP2. It also has 3GB of RAM and comes with 16 or 32GB internal storage variant. And if that is not enough, users can always team it up with external storage in its microSD slot up to 256GB.

5.    Quality Camera

The device has a front camera of an 8-megapixel with an f/1.9 maximum aperture lens - and this is better than many back-facing main cameras on high end smartphones a few years ago. With its powerful image processors, the image quality is fine enough for all social networking sharing (selfie).

For the back (main) camera, it is a 13-megapixel camera with an f/1.9 max aperture lens, with autofocus and LED flash that goes with it. J7 Prime is also capable of recording 1080p video up to 30fps, and features like geo-tag, face detect, panorama, HDR and touch focus are also available.

Galaxy J7 Prime is currently available only in India which costs ₹16,900, which currently converts to around $248 USD
