Mariah Carey's Walk of Fame Star Vandalised

The start of 2017 doesn't seem to be in favour for singer Mariah Carey. It only appears worse as her Hollywood Walk Of Fame star has been vandalised.

Carey's star at the Walk of Fame had been vandalised with a blue question mark after the singer's name with an inked marker.

The vandalism was reported on Monday as the photo of the tainted star was discovered on Instagram, posted by a fan.

According to TMZ, the Hollywood Historic Trust has gotten rid of the question mark and polished Carey's star for a bill of $1500.

Carey who received her star in August 2015, was honoured with the Walk of Fame in respect of her 26 years of success in the music industry.

The vandalization occurred only a week after the singer's disastrous New Year's Eve live performance in New York's Times Square. The 46 year old singer was beset by technical difficulties, including an earpiece that she claimed faulty and suffered a meltdown on stage. She later blamed Dick Clark Productions team for the mistakes as an act of sabotage, a claim the company has since refuted, and even fired her creative director.

In a similar incident in October, President Donald Trump's star was vandalized with sledgehammer and pickaxe. Jamie Otis admitted on the act days before the 2016 presidential election and justified himself by saying that he intended to auction off the removed star to raise money for the legal defense of Trump's sexual assault accusers. Otis was later arrested for the crime.

The Los Angeles police department is currently investigating the crime for felony vandalism. They are reviewing surveillance footage to search for the suspect.
