Manchester United Transfer: Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton as £22M Deal Nearly Finalized

By

Manchester United and Everton have reportedly agreed to £22 million deal for midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The transfer is expected to be finalized as soon as the France international finishes his medical on Wednesday.

According to The Guardian, Manchester United accepted Everton's bid on Monday after rejecting the first offer worth £19 million last week. United also rejected a similar bid from West Bromwich Albion because they wanted to recoup the £24 million fee they paid for Schneiderlin.

The 27-year-old moved to United from Southampton in the summer of 2015 for £24 million. He had a good first season with the Red Devils but he has barely played under Jose Mourinho. Schneiderlin has only appeared in three league games this season and eight in all competitions.

Mourinho, who took over United this season, confirmed that the out-of-favor midfielder could be on his way to Goodison Park. He told team's official website that he is happy and sad at the same time at the sale of Schneiderlin.

"Before the match, I was informed by Mr. Woodward (United chairman) that the situation is close, so Morgan is more than probably going to Everton. I'm sad, I'm happy," Mourinho said.

"So if this is what he wants, I'm happy for a very good professional," he added.

Schneiderlin is set to undergo his medical on Wednesday and the deal will surely get finalized if everything is alright. United forward Memphis Depay is also linked with a move to Everton, per The Independent.

The France international started his career with RC Strasbourg in his native land before moving to Southampton in 2008. He played with the English side for seven years and helped them become a mainstay in the Premier League.

Schneiderlin played his best season in 2012-13 as he was named the club's Player of the Year. As for the national team, he has 15 caps with France. He will be a good addition for Everton since he can help them achieve a top four finish.
