Music producer Phil Spector has filed for divorce from his third wife, Rachelle Short, while incarcerated. The musician is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence for his murder conviction, following the death of actress, Lana Clarkson.

According to Daily Mail, Attorney Aaron Abramowitz, the representing lawyer for Rachelle Short Spector, stated the divorce was "heartbreakingly bizarre". Abramowitz went on saying Rachelle has been "devoted to her husband and has been providing support and care while he is incarcerated."

He also added that Spector have "failed to recognize" his wife's efforts to get him medical care while completing his sentence. The 79-year-old musician, who has been married for 10 years to his third wife since 2006, stated on the divorce filing that his 35-year-old wife had been spending his money lavishly on luxury sports cars, jets and homes.

Court records show Spector filed the divorce on the 18th of March, Mirror reported. Rachelle, who is currently living in Pyrenees Castle and manages her husband's multi-million dollar business, used to visit Spector at in Stockton prison facility. The prison provides medical and health care treatment to sickly inmates, especially those with chronic conditions.

Spector was found guilty in 2009 of shooting Lana Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, Los Angeles. Clarkson died from a gunshot wound in the mouth. According to Spector, the actress accidentally shot herself or committed suicide. However, investigators said Spector was drunk when he fired a bullet on Clarkson who allegedly refused to have sex with him.

It was reported that he has a history of pointing guns on women who reject his demands. Spector's initial trial on 2007 ended in a deadlocked jury. His defense lawyers argued that the actress suffers depression, Celebrity Net Worth reported.

Spector, who was known for his Wall of Sound production and for working with a number of stars in the 1960s to produce pop hits including "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Be My Baby," was later convicted of killing Clarkson. He is serving a sentence of 19 years to life for the said murder case.
