‘Thor: Ragnarok’ sets events for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’; God of Thunder dies but gets resurrected?

'Thor: Ragnarok' is an upcoming Marvel film that may set the events for the two-part installment 'Avengers: Infinity War'. It may see the death of Chris Hemsworth's Thor. However, the character may be resurrected to reappear in future films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

According to Moviepilot, the upcoming film will follow the events of the preceding 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and may ultimately set the pace and story flow for the two-part installment 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

In 'Age of Ultron', Thor was determined to find all Infinity Stones before the supervillain Thanos could complete his Infinity Gauntlet. It was suggested that this mission may push Thor towards an imminent face-off with his half-brother Loki and ultimately Thanos himself.

Although official plot details remain scarce, it was assumed that both Loki and Thanos will be the biggest threats in the sequel. According to Games Radar, Marvel's Kevin Feige hinted that the third installment in the 'Thor' series will be bigger and better than the previous releases.

Feige said, "This is a very important movie for us in phase three... We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron and impacts everything that comes after."

It was strongly speculated that one of the most critical aspects of the upcoming film will be the death of Chris Hemsworth's Thor. However, comic book adaptations rarely keep the lead protagonist six feet making it highly likely that the God of Thunder will be resurrected for future films in the MCU.

Meanwhile, according to The Independent, Hemsworth admitted that he would like to focus on different projects later in his career. He said, "I definitely I have a yearning for something contemporary and real and simpler. That would be the focus."

The 32-year old actor also admitted that getting back to his role as Thor still rattles his nerves. He said, "I still get a little bit nervous... I used to suffer from it quite badly when I first started out. It's still there now but I sort of acknowledge it differently. I just accept that it's going to be there and use the anxiety as a motivator... Luckily, we have a script a lot earlier than I had on either of the first two films."

'Thor: Ragnarok' is an upcoming MCU film directed by Taika Waititi. It will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular God of Thunder. It is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017.
