Woman Arrested at the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll event for Removing Security Barriers

A woman who was attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll event was arrested over her attempts to move a temporary security barrier on Monday. The US Secret Service took the woman in custody same time as an armed man entered the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.

The woman whose name was not yet known was immediately arrested for her attempt to move a temporary barrier while at the yearly Easter Egg event in the White House, Time reported. On the U.S. Secret Service's Office of Government and Public Affairs released statement from Robert K. Hoback, the Uniformed Division Officers made the immediate arrest to the woman on Monday and is now under investigation.

On the initial investigation conducted, the woman has a "valid ticket" for the event and even undergoes security screening along with other attendees of the event. There are 35,000 visitors on the White House Easter Egg Roll event, according to Reuters.

During the incident, an armed man was also taken into custody at the Capitol Visitor Center, putting Congress and the White House on lockdown. however, the Secret Service says there is no relationship between the two incidents. As precaution and response to the incidents, the Secret Service moved and kept the distance of the tourist visitors away from the fence line of the White House complex.

US president Barrack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama greeted a number of children at the South Lawn of the White House morning of Monday. It is also the final Easter Egg Roll event of Obama's term as the president, Fox 5 reported.

The White House Easter Egg Roll dates back more than 100 years, beginning in 1878. Children would flock to Capitol Hill on the Monday after Easter. The event includes fun activities such as storytelling, musical performances and tips from professional athletes on how to play basketball, tennis and other sports.
