After years of waiting for the follow up, production for Avatar 2 is finally set to move forward as filming is set to begin next month. The sequel is set to center on Jake and Neytiri as they explore the bodies of water of Pandora.

Pressure is high for the sequel to match the success of its predecessor in the box office. Thus, director James Cameron is working on making sure to perfect the sequel, which is the same reason that the sequel's release in theaters has been delayed for years.

However, after years of development, the sequel will finally head to filming. As reported by Christian Daily, the sequel is set to begin principal photography in Manhattan Beach, New Zealand starting April 15 this year.

The film was previously slated to be released on December 25, 2017 but was later moved to an unknown date. According to Master Herald, the reason for the change in release date is still unknown, although rumors suggest that such measure was done in order to avoid clashing with Star Wars 8 which could be a big rival in the box office due to its large following.

Sam Worthington is set to reprise his role as Jake Sully along with Zoe Saldana who will return as Neytiri. According to Breathe cast, the sequel is speculated to see Jake Sully as he becomes the chieftain of the tribe while Neytiri is hailed as the high priestess.

The two will eventually get married, and build their own family but not without the struggles that come their way due to the battles between the humans and Na'vi. The sequel will also feature Neytiri and Jake as they explore beyond the forest to the water territories of Pandora to meet new characters.

Aside from Saldana and Worthington, Stephen Lang is also set to come back as villainous Miles Quatrich as well as Sigourney Weaver in Avatar 2, although, they were previously thought to have died in the first film.
