Kesha Appeals Dr. Luke Court Ruling As Producer Accuses Singer Of Manufacturing False Claims

By

Kesha has filed an appeal regarding the court ruling denying her of the injunction she has filed last year against her producer Dr. Luke comparing her contract to slavery. The musical producer, on the other hand, alleges that the singer is manufacturing false claims in her statements.

In a report by Pedestrian, Kesha has alleged her former producers of emotionally, sexually, physically, and mentally abusing her. Due to this, she is seeking an exit from her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke despite the ruling last month that she should continue to release new music under the companies without having to work with her former boss under Kemosabe Records. She has been working with Dr. Luke since 2005 and over the course of their professional ties, she alleges that she has been abused.

Although the terms of Kesha not being able to produce music outside her contract is flexible, her lawyer, Mark Geragos, said that it is a fundamental misreading by Justice Shirley Kornreich, saying that the court "erred in basing its decision on its finding that Kesha could record without interference from Gottwald (Dr. Luke)," The Guardian reported.

In the lawsuit, Geragos also said that although it was recognized during the court ruling that "slavery was done away with a long time ago" and that no one can force someone to work in a situation in which one does not want to work, the ruling is doing just that.

As for Dr. Luke, he and his team have continued to deny the allegations made by Kesha and insisted that they are false. Mirror reported that after the singer launched an appeal after the injunction was denied, the producer's legal team has released a statement.

They said that the court has stated that Kesha was free to record without Dr. Luke but she and her team continues to manufacture "false and outrageous" statements. They added that the singer's time should be better spend in a studio than spinning "lies in the media."

The claims of Kesha are said to be damaging to Dr. Luke's career. Aside from the assault allegations, Dr. Luke was also accused of being controlling when it comes to the musical career of Kesha.

Many artists have rallied behind Kesha such as Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Adele, Kelly Clarkson and many more. Taylor Swift even donated $250,000 to the singer to help her financially during this trying time.
