Pokemon Go Release Date Won't Happen Before GDC 2016 on March 14-18; Nintendo Title to Drop Region by Region

By

Pokemon Go development studio Niantic will show off the game during the Game Developers Conference to be held on March 14 to 18. This will most likely rule out the game ever being released before March 14. In addition, CEO of the Pokemon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara said that the game will be released region by region.

Express UK reported that Niantic will be showing an in-depth look at the game during GDC 2016.

Niantic is the current Pokemon Go developer. They are known for creating the highly regarded AR game Ingress. Korea Portal said that Niantic will give GDC attendees a peek at a demo of the game.

According to Movie Pilot the game will be released first in Japan, Europe, and North America. All three will possibly be released at the same time. If true a simultaneous release will most likely bolster the popularity of the game. Traditionally, Japan has always been the first to get the Pokemon games.

The AR game will also be released a little bit later in South America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Based on Pokemon historical releases Japan always gets the game first, the next is North America, then Europe, and eventually the rest of the world.

It is also reported that The Pokemon Company is also working on another big project which could be the next iteration of the franchise called Pokemon Z. The title is not officially announced but gamers are anticipating the inevitable announcement.

Augmented Reality is not a new concept in games with the wide availability of smart devices. Nintendo is no stranger to AR, too. The beloved videogame company actually pre-loaded numerous AR games for its 3DS handheld consoles.

Pokemon Go is published by The Pokemon Company and distributed by Nintendo. The game will be available for most modern Android devices and choice iOS devices.
