HTC One M9 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update on T-Mobile & Verizon: AT&T Loses Streak While US Cellular Missing in Action

By

Following the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to One M9 units of T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless last February 16, a host of surprises have been teased to come, including some exciting modifications to the Sense 7.0 user interface (UI). Meanwhile, AT&T and US Cellular are both missing in HTC's Android map as of now.

HTC One M9 phones under T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have just received the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. HTC's Mo Versi previously took Twitter to reveal said information following snooping fans' unrelenting questions over the microblogging site.

When Versi revealed the news last February 12, the official added that more details should be surfacing over the course soon. So far though, what HTC has revealed that the February 16 release date is yet the beginning of the update, which means parts and parcel of the One M9 population on T-Mobile and Verizon will get the update on the following days. The update is expected to cap after a week.

Among One M9 phones, units under mobile carriers in Canada were the first to receive Marshmallow followed by carriers in the United Kingdom, then Sprint in the United States. Meanwhile, AT&T and US Cellular are losing the Marshmallow race for now as these carriers release dates remained unannounced.

Versi furthered AT&T and US Cellular's delay of the update is particularly caused by "a small issue." A report at Gotta Be Mobile stated that more details on these carriers' Marshmallow update can be expected over the weekend.

One M9 owners can expect quite few changes brought by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which include software optimizations for the best user experience and overall performance. One of the most notable features that will come in with Marshmallow is the fingerprint support.

Fingerprint scanner may not be new in some Android phones. Marshmallow, however, is the first software version of Android to support the feature. With previous Android versions like Lollipop, device manufacturers still have to jam in this feature

Meanwhile, the update is also expected to bring improvements to the Sense 7.0 UI.
