Husband Kills Wife at Office: Dr. Michelle Liggio Gunned Down While at Work in South Jersey. Spouse Later Dies

Dr. Michelle Liggio, a South New Jersey doctor was killed by her husband Christopher, after filing for divorce, according to Pennsauken police, as reported by NBC10 Philadelphia. Dr. Michelle Liggio's staffers told police that Christopher Liggio came to the office during the lunch hour and the couple began arguing reportedly over their estrangement, and that she asked for a divorce.

Workers reported hearing Dr. Liggio plead, "No, no, no," before they heard five gunshots.

Employees inside the office ran outside at that point and someone called 911.

A SWAT team responded.

"There were a few gunshots and then a police officer came in and they told us to get away from the windows," said the manager of the Tortilla Press Cantina, said.

"It was surreal. We're in here preparing for lunch crowd and then this happened." Strong said.

Both Dr. Liggio and her husband were both dead. The Liggios are from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and had two children.

Dr. Liggio attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.School of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1993. She was known as a highly respected family doctor in Pennsauken, NJ. This kind of doctor is a general practitioner who treats most family members from children to adults, according to wellness.com.
