John Wick 2 eyeing for 2016 release, filming in Rome shows Keanu Reeves ditching formal suit; Lead actor reveals intensive Judo, Jiu-Jitsu training for role

Keanu Reeves promises more elaborate and impressive moves as he returns for another round of action in John Wick 2. Filming proceeded to Rome where the titular character was spotted wearing more casual clothing, compared to his signature formal look.

Filming for the upcoming sequel began last year in New York where videos and photos of Keanu Reeves as John Wick spread online while he performed several action stunts in Chinatown. But Wick does not intend to remain stateside as Inverse reported several photos of the actor while filming in Rome.

Reeves was photographed in the set wearing blue jeans and a white pull-over shirt different from  the character's usual spruce suit outfit when fighting the bad guys. However, the pitbull spotted with Reeves during the filming in New York was nowhere to be found during filming in Rome.

The lead actor will be joined by 'Orange is the New Black' star Ruby Rose while Reeves' The Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne is expected to make a cameo appearance as well. In late January, Daily Mail spotted Rose and Reeves as they leave the same high-end restaurant in Rome. Both actors were reported joined by Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio.

Rose has been open in social media about her preparations for John Wick 2 and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage where she showed photos of herself lifting weights and doing high kicks. As reported by Movie News Guide, Reeves also previously revealed that he prepared for his action sequences in the film through training and practicing the disciplines of Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.

The first film centered around the retired hitman, John Wick, who sought revenge after his vintage car was stolen, and his beloved dog, which was a gift from his deceased wife, was killed. Reeves is set to return as the badass hitman, while Rose is set to play as the big boss of crime in the sequel.

John Wick 2 is eyeing for a 2016 release date.
