Motorola Pushes Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Moto G (2014) in India: Now Live in US?

By

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now officially being pushed out to Motorola Moto G (2014) phones. The update is now up in India across all units via over-the-air (OTA) rollout.

Motorola Moto G (2014) phones around the globe are expected to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update as versions in India have now been updated. According to Android Headlines, the update "may already have gone live for US residents" per posting on Reddit.

According to a post from the site, Marshmallow is currently being released across all variants of Moto G (2014) phones in the United States. These include model versions XT1063, XT1064, XT1068 and XT1069. However, this has not been confirmed by the report so it remains a speculation as of now. To manually check for the availability of the software, go to Settings > About > Update.

Motorola has been soak testing the Marshmallow software in the last few weeks to particular phones, including Moto G (2013), Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto X Pure Edition. In a matter of a week, the company was able to roll out the update over the air which was immediately followed by mobile operators too, an unusual move in the Android community.

Soak testing of Moto G (2014) and Moto G (2014) LTE was conducted in the first week of February in Brazil and India where there is a good market of Motorola phones. Motorola promised then to deliver the update immediately after the approval of the software for release.

Lately, the device manufacturer had been bombarded with complaints from Droid Turbo 2 owners following the device's poor performance. Accordingly, device owners claimed that the green line persistently appearing on the screen was brought by bugs in the software. However, Motorola and its exclusive partner distributor of the phone Verizon have denied these allegations. Instead, they pointed out that poor handling of the phone might be the big contributor to the device's persistent green line.
