Sony Xperia Z6 Release, Specs, Price Rumors: Device's MWC 2016 Launch Not Happening; Debut Pushed Back To Late 2016?

Sony Xperia Z5 is now available for purchase in US in preparation for the release of the upcoming flagship handset, Xperia Z6. While patrons are expecting the new smartphone to debut at MWC 2016, rumors say it has been pushed back to a late 2016 launch.

According to Christian Today, the annual Mobile World Congress serves as a showcasing event for flagship series launches. However, it could still be too early for the Xperia Z6 to appear. Whit this, tech enthusiasts are predicting that the company will still have a smartphone presence at the MWC. But instead of a premium flagship iteration, Sony will reportedly switch to a mid-range smartphone launch and this might be the Xperia C6.

The Xperia Z series serves as the top-tier lineup of Sony Mobile while Xperia C products are more of entry-level devices. It was reported that aside from Sony Mobile making an Xperia C6 announcement at the MWC, the tech giant is also said to be focusing on the Xperia Z5 lineup first. The flagship was recently refreshed, with Sony Mobile launching Gold and Pink color options, as well as releasing a Snapdragon chipset version with 3 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, Sony is expected to add the new Xperia Z6 in the mix by having a late 2016 release, possibly by Sepember. Gospel Herald claimed that Sony might change the blocky look of the phone and substitute it with a metallic surface and curvier shape. Moreover, the Sony Xperia Z6 might arrive in different colors and slim frame as well.

The upcoming Xperia handset might have processing capabilities that is powered by the Qualcomm's latest chipset, the SnapDragon 820. This is a great news for Sony patrons because the new smartphone will be upgraded from the current SnapDragon 810. In addition, the processor will be paired with a 3-4 GB of RAM, and have an expandable storage through the built-in Micro-SD card slot.

It was also reported that the Sony Xperia Z6 would also have longer battery life and fast-charging port. Sony is known for releasing devices that have long lasting battery, but the Japanese tech company will improve that feature with reversible USB Type-C for faster and wireless charging.

Rumors also suggest that the upcoming Xperia Z6 would run on Google's latest firmware, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, that will bring a host of new features for the Xperia Z6. The latest operating system offers a lot of apps like Now on Tap, and the battery-friendly Doze feature.

As for the price, Alphr reported buyers will have to expect that Sony's trend of selling its handsets at incredibly high prices will continue with the Z6. Based on the previous release pricing, it's almost certain the Z6 will launch with an RRP of £549.

Nevertheless, Sony hasn't stated anything yet and fans of the Japanese tech company will have to wait for further announcements.
