HTC Desire 820 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Update: Is Sense 7.0 UI Arriving?

By

HTC already released series of software updates around the world, particularly in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. While One M8 and One M9 kicked off the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, HTC's Desire lineup is expected to follow the update.

HTC Desire 820 phones have been confirmed since last year to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the first quarter of 2016. While HTC has barely two months before the quarter caps, many are wondering if the company is going to make it. As of the moment, Desire 820 is still in the development stage like most of the phones in the lineup.

Development stage is where the device manufacturer incorporates the Sense user interface with Android's new build. Testing stage shall follow which normally takes two weeks to a month depending on the software issues that manufacturers have to battle with. If successful, the official release will finally come. However, release date will vary for those phones under a mobile operator or location.

Despite this sluggish progress, it can be expected for HTC to release the Marshmallow update just in the nick of time since priority devices like One M8 and One M9 have already been updated. Its variants are expected to follow along with the Desire lineup.

It was reported back in December 2015 that HTC was on for a January-March 2016 release of Marshmallow to Desire 820 but only One M8 and One M9 phones were able to receive the update last month. Hence, it remains uncertain as to when HTC is officially releasing Marshmallow to Desire 820.

According to You Mobile, Desire 820 has yet receive yet the Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 6.0 while Android 5.1 Lollipop still is under negotiation. If the updates will push through, Marshmallow should be expected to come after April.

Meanwhile, there is no mention for now if the device will receive the Sense 7.0 user interface or be stuck with Sense 6.0. Nevertheless, Marshmallow should come with a host of improvements in battery management, app permissions, app links, Google Now and so much more.
