Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update Now Rolling Out to Sprint's HTC One M9; Enhancements Brought By OS Detailed

By

As what HTC has promised, the Taiwanese tech company together with Sprint is now rolling the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware upgrade to HTC One M9 devices. The Marshmallow 6.0 operating system is expected to bring enhancements on the handsets.

According to Neurogadget, the One M9 is a flagship handset from HTC that has been released last Spring. It initially runs on version 5.0 before it was updated to 5.1. Since then, this smartphone hasn't received any another update probably because the manufacturer is waiting for the release of 6.0 Marshmallow.

After the launch of Marshmallow, HTC has unveiled its first device with the latest OS installed- the One A9. With that, users of One M9 are expecting for the firmware upgrade to reach their devices soon. But many of them got very disappointed when Sprint chose to upgrade its predecessor, the One M8, first a few weeks ago.

Nonetheless, Android Authority reported that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware upgrade has already started rolling out to the One M9 on February 5th. The Marshmallow update brought the One M9's firmware to version 3.41.651.3.

When it comes to the enhancements, the new OS includes the Google Now on Tap, which delivers the power of Google Now  to virtually every corner of the handset.  The upgrade also brings an application permissions control, a killer battery saving feature known as Doze Mode, and much better volume controls.

Since this is an over-the-air update, users will be receiving a notification that a firmware upgrade is available. But just in-case they don't receive any, they can manually check by going to Settings> System updates> HTC software update> Check now.

TechnoBuffalo stated that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS is a big upgrade so it is expected to roll out in phases. This basically means that not all users will get it at the same time. Nonetheless, users don't have anything to worry if they don't get theirs today since it could be arriving over the coming days.

As for other HTC handsets, owners are advised to wait for further announcements as to when they will obtain the Marshmallow 6.0.
